  • What is Energy Efficiency Ratio?

The Energy Efficiency Ratio, or EER, is the rate of the air conditioner’s cooling output divided by its energy consumption. The EER determines the efficiency of an air conditioning unit relative the amount of power it consumes. The higher the EER, the more efficient the unit is.
To compute for the EER, simply divide the cooling capacity of an air conditioner measured in British Thermal Units per Hour (BTU/hr) by its Power Input measured in watts (W).

Remember the rule of thumb: "choose the unit with the HIGHER EER".
